Christmas Eve Jingle

Residents are invited to take part in a worldwide Christmas Eve jingle bell event to spread joy after lockdown.

Participants are asked to stand on their doorstep and ring a bell for two minutes at 6pm on Thursday 24th December 2020.

After what has been an unprecedented year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with people losing loved ones, being separated from family and friends and struggling with the impact of lockdown restrictions, the hope is to bring “magic, hope and togetherness” to communities.

The idea was started by Mary Breggs-Reid, 41, an estate manager from Harrogate. She was inspired by the ‘Clap for Carers’ initiative, along with the movie ‘Elf’ starring Will Ferrell in which characters sing to provide Christmas spirit to fuel Santa’s sleigh.
