Notes from FVCA:

The client is Salop Sand and Gravel, the same company that owns Wildmoor Quarry.  It was Mr. Parton, director of the company, that gave a presentation to the Parish Council regarding extending extraction at the Wildmoor Quarry site.  Should the planning application that is currently being considered be approved, the company may seek to extend operations at the Wildmoor Quarry site, on land owned by Mr. Parton.  Other landowners adjacent to Wildmoor Quarry include Worcestershire County Council and the Parish Council.

According to the Planning Statement, the application is requesting the extraction of approximately 1.28M tonnes of sand from approximately 3.5 ha, the extraction and restoration taking place in phases over approximately a 13 year period at recent extraction rates of approximately 100,000 tonnes per annum.  The maximum depth of extraction will  be between 25-30 metres, the base of the quarry will not extend below 154m AOD (above ordnance datum, i.e. “sea level”).

The Application Site extends to an area of 9.1 ha, 3.5 ha for extraction and the remainder (5.6 ha) for landscaping and assorted planting.

Access will be via a track leading to/from Money Lane.

The site will operate Monday to Friday 7am – 7pm and Saturdays 7am – 12pm, no operations on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Restoration will include the importation of inert waste as suitable filling material.  An Environment Agency licence will be required.

The proposed site will have a greater impact on neighbouring properties than the former site, as there are properties nearby.
